The New Hampshire Film Festival is excited to announce blues legend Otis Clay will attend the screening of Take Me To The River on Saturday, Oct. 18.

Clay, who was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 2013, will attend the 10:55 A.M. screening on Saturday morning at The Music Hall and will then participate in a Q&A session to follow immediately after.

The legendary R&B soul singer co-stars in the new music documentary directed by Martin Shore, which showcases a passel of southern soul legends (including Bobby Rush, William Bell, and the late Bobby Bland) combining with a new generation of rappers to illustrate how the region’s indigenous music has changed over the decades. The music documentary will also be shown on Sunday, Oct. 19 at the Moffat Ladd House beginning at 12:30 P.M. Clay will not be in attendance for the second screening.

The Chicago soul legend is best known for his 1972 hit “Trying To Live My Life Without You,” not to mention countless other R&B classics he’s produced over the years. In addition to his recently released album—Truth Is—Clay has been busy co-starring with Rush, Bell, Snoop Dogg and a contingent of young rappers on a series of concerts in support of the music documentary.

“The young people are seeing and hearing this music, and they’re saying, ‘Wow, we love it!’” says Clay. “Because now they know where it really came from.”

Clay joins a star-studded cast of celebrities and film industry elite taking part in this year’s film festival, located in downtown Portsmouth, N.H. Also attending the NH Film Festival are special guests Flea, Mike O’Malley and Michelle MacLaren.
